I realised that old people crave human company a lot. The old ladies probably went to the movies not to watch it, but to be around people. I teach piano, and I get some retirees in their 60s and 70s who take up lessons with me for all sorts of reasons - some just to hear me play for them, others just so they can chit chat to me, etc etc. Very few sign up to really learn to play - most can already play!
