Julie and I were lucky enough to be able to go see John Hodgman and Jonathan Coulton in person today. We had to go all the way up to Chicago, but it was totally worth it.
John Hodgman (who you have seen on The Daily Show and those Mac commercials) is not the “deranged know-it-all” that he pretends to be, nor is he the “deranged millionaire” who he also sometimes pretends to be. He is a down-to-earth guy with a great sense of humor. The question and answer session was conducted through a set of walkie talkies and he was kind enough to perform his haunting “musical saw” impression by request.
Jonathan Coulton also rocked the house Borders with a couple of awesome songs before Hodgman got started. He’s a great songwriter who just wrapped up writing a song every week for a year. Most of them are funny, some are sad, but they’re all great.
In conclusion: go buy their stuff! Support these funny and extremely talented guys with your hard-earned cash! I know they’ll appreciate it.
