It amazes me that it took this long for US detainees to be treated under the Geneva Convention rights. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me with a man like Alberto Gonzales (who famously called the Geneva Convention “quaint”) in charge of the DoJ.
It also amazes me that anyone can say that the Bush administration has any kind of moral platform when they try to pull things like this. It’s clear that they use issues like gay marriage and abortion to make people think that they only have one moral choice. This has nothing to do with being liberal or conservative. It has everything to do with basic human compassion and empathy.
On the other hand, I’m sure that the fact that two guys can’t marry is a huge consolation to the prisoners being tortured by our government.

Dan, Dan, Dan, you crazy liberal you. Obviously you need to pay more heed to Stephen Colbert:

Its all about protecting our freedom Dan. I mean its so obvious how making abortion illegal, preventing gays from marrying, and imprisoning & torturing Middle Easterners is protecting our freedom.
Oh, come on! Don’t you know that the President is always right?
